School World

On February 27th, I sat down with one of the ITS members at Indian River and we looked at a trial of School World. Provided that at some point we will be able to talk to the people from School World there may be a definite opportunity that Indian River may look at going to this.

Working with the DO

Friday February 16th was a day dedicated to general maintenance and working with some of the clerical staff in the District Office correcting some of the errors they had made working with the substitute application that Ed and I (mostly Ed) worked on. Most of the discrepancies were due to the fact that many substitutes had been accidentally erased from the system and I had to get into the database to fix it.

The Ammo Dump

On February 8th and 9th I help Shawn out in what is referred to as the “Ammo Dump.” This is where all of their surplus goes. We had to go in and sort through all of the equipment and compare to the inventory on record.

Worked with the ITS Team

On January 30th and February 2nd I worked with the Instructional Technology team in producing and distributing the material provided by NYSED that review all of the ELA testing.

Experimenting with CSE Databse

On Friday January 26th, the day was spent addressing issues for the CSE project with the webmasters. Depending on how much autonomy that they want in place for their project, there may be several different options available to them as far how they want to present their information. Also we addressed some formatting issues as far as their database is concerned. If we do have to start over from scratch, depending on how they format their database it may be a matter of changing one field that would change it from a large project to a small project.

General Maintenance

On January 24th the day in Indian River was spent just doing general maintenance on the website and the pages that were either out of date, contained broken links, etc.. Also I worked on the shell for the CSE database project. I setup the form with the checkboxes and all of the options that they wanted to look at.

Streaming Setup and Maintenance

On January 19th Adam and I did an overhaul on the Apple streaming server at Indian River. There were some issues in making the content on the server downloadable to the public. After troubleshooting with several different fixes we finally stumble on a PHP script that would make all of our content downloadable to the public, we just had to create new directories and copy the files over once new content was recorded.

Meeting with Member of CSE

On January 17th I met with members of the CSE office in Indian River and discussed a potential project. With all of the reports that they create daily they wanted to have a place where they could take these reports and post them on the web without having to make 200 printouts daily. Essentially it will be a searchable database where users can customize the report that they are looking for by selecting a series of checkboxes. Once the meeting was concluded I setup the framework of the site.
